He that hath a bountiful eye shall be blessed; for he giveth of his bread to the poor.
(Pro 22:9)
At this time of year, charities have their hands out begging...pleading for people to give. Fortunately for them they receive either out of an overflowing of the holiday spirit...or by those seeking a tax break.
However, the Lord keeps track of those that have open hands and hearts, giving liberally to those with less. He promises that those people will be blessed, and it is so true.
You really cannot out-give God. The Word also says that "give and it shall be given unto you, pressed down, shaken together, shall other men give to you."
I saw a news report the other day of a man, raised in poverty, who through hard work and effort became a millionaire. Yet that man gives and gives and gives, to the point that he's given over four million dollars to those in need. Basically depleting his own fortune to help those in need. I can guarantee that God will bless him both spiritually and financially.
Then there are those millionaires and billionaires who concentrate on building their fortune, jet setting around the world, looking down on the poor, considering themselves above the masses. Every once in awhile you hear about some former millionaire who through wild living and reckless spending ends up broke, with nothing to show for it.
However, then need to remember : The rich and poor meet together: the LORD is the maker of them all. (Pro 22:2)
